Random path averaging in multiple-scattering theory

چکیده
A method of path averaging for waves propagating in a random dilute system of identical scatterers is developed. The scattering matrix of such a system is calculated. The method systematically takes into account repeating scatterings on the same scatterer and effects of correlations. Results obtained show the significant influence of new effects on the extinction of a coherent field and are valid in both the diffusive and localized regimes. @S0163-1829~97!04506-2#

Propagation of transverse optical coherence in random multiple-scattering media
We experimentally investigate the evolution of the transverse spatial coherence of light as it traverses a random, multiple-scattering medium. For near-forward scattering, it has been proposed that the wave-transport process can be well described by a transport equation for the spatial-angular Wigner function of the light, or equivalently for the two-point spatial coherence function ~mutual int...
متن کاملStrategies in localization proofs for one-dimensional random Schrödinger operators
Recent results on localization, both exponential and dynamical, for various models of one-dimensional, continuum, random Schrödinger operators are reviewed. This includes Anderson models with indefinite single site potentials, the Bernoulli– Anderson model, the Poisson model, and the random displacement model. Among the tools which are used to analyse these models are generalized spectral avera...
متن کاملTransport-Based Imaging in Random Media
This paper derives a radiative transfer equation from first principles to model the energy density of (mono-frequency) high frequency waves propagating in a random medium composed of localized scatterers. The correlation length of the random scatterers is small compared to the overall distance of propagation so that ensemble averaging may take place. The paper also considers the detection and i...
متن کاملA Path Loss Model for Non-Line-of-Sight Ultraviolet Multiple Scattering Channels
An ultraviolet (UV) signal transmission undergoes rich scattering and strong absorption by atmospheric particulates. We develop a path loss model for a Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) link. The model is built upon probability theory governing random migration of photons in free space, undergoing scattering, in terms of angular direction and distance. The model analytically captures the contributions o...
متن کاملFrom clean to diffusive mesoscopic systems: A semiclassical approach to the magnetic susceptibility
– We study disorder-induced spectral correlations and their effect on the magnetic susceptibility of mesoscopic quantum systems in the non-diffusive regime. By combining a diagrammatic perturbative approach with semiclassical techniques we perform impurity averaging for non-translational invariant systems. This allows us to study the crossover from clean to diffusive systems. As an application ...
